Making sense of dyslexia

Dyslexia Awareness Week Dyslexia Awareness Week at the University is on Monday 5 October to Friday 9 October 2015 and we will be celebrating this in association with the British Dyslexia Association.

The theme of the 2015 awareness week is ‘Making Sense of Dyslexia’ and looks at how much of an impact the right support and interventions can now have on the future of people with dyslexia.

It is beneficial for everyone to understand personal strengths and weaknesses and to find ways to develop learning strategies. This can be especially true for people with dyslexia and the earlier you can access the support, the better. This can boost your engagement with your studies and your future employability.

If you are a student with dyslexia or you think you may have dyslexia, the University wants to ensure that you fulfil your future potential and receive the right kind of support and adjustments from us.

If you are not sure whether you have dyslexia, you have not had an assessment before or your assessment is very out of date, you can arrange an initial meeting with a member of staff from Disability Services at one of our Specific Learning Difficulty Workshops. Here we let you know about booking an Educational Psychologist Assessment and about the support at the University.

If you have already had an assessment, you can meet with your individual adviser or attend one of the daily lunch time drop-ins. Here are our contact details:
