Enterprising students take on test town

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 15:50:00 BST

A group of our Enterprise Placement Year students and Adriana Tavares, one of the University’s established enterprise clients are taking part in an exciting project this weekend (Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October).

They will be working together on Test Town – a project designed to support ten towns across the UK and Ireland to hold local activities that are appropriate and effective for each community.  They provide funding to run a skills development activity for entrepreneurs in town centres and Huddersfield has been selected as one of the test towns.

The Huddersfield students and Adriana have been allocated an entire town centre shop (opposite Ryman’s on New Street) and are planning to create a very professional ‘department store’ installation.  They are hosting seven of our enterprises:

  • WARPED - Tapestry Apparel - Jess Moore
  • Designed by Ink - Matthew Jones and Nicole Rawson
  • Adriana Tavares - Adriana Tavares Green
  • Tom Rotherham Music - Tom Rotherham
  • Smith & Bowes - Ellie Smith and Lorna Hampton-Bowes
  • Music and Motion - promoted by Daniel Barker
  • Dragons Breathe Fire - Rebecca Murray

Staff and students are invited to come along to the store and buy things or browse on Saturday 10 October from 10.00am to 5.00pm and on Sunday 11 October from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
