Students and staff from all disciplines are welcome to attend this free event where Clare Shaw, the new Royal Literary Fellow at the University of Huddersfield, will harness the power of language to create a challenging and thought-provoking portrait of modern psychiatric care.

Clare has over fifteen years of experience working in and using mental health services. She has published two Bloodaxe poetry collections, and has a range of other publications in poetry and non-fiction. In her work, she draws on her own experiences as mental health service user, as well as her years as a trainer, researcher and consultant.

The event takes place on Thursday 12 November from 5.15pm to 6.30pm in the Ramsden Café, First Floor, Ramsden Building.

Clare was also described as “one of the country's most dynamic young poets” (Arvon 2011). At the event you can expect passion, poetry, politics and free refreshments!
