Professor Simon Pepper University of Liverpool

Professor Pepper, who is an internationally recognised academic in the field of architectural history, will provide an overview of REF 2014 for Sub-panel 16 (Architecture, Built Environment and Planning), having been a panel member, and will examine the challenges and opportunities facing the architectural humanities, referring to his own research areas.

David Rudlin URBED

URBED is an urban design practice based in Manchester and has undertaken major projects across the UK including Hulme. David Rudlin, who heads URBED, will examine some of the practice’s projects, highlighting the intersections between urban design practice, planning and research.

5.15 - 5.45pm

Interactive Session Sustainability in practice

The final session of the afternoon will be focused on sustainable design, construction and operation of buildings, taking a practice-led approach. This will be an interactive session with the aim of identifying how and where university expertise and collaboration can support construction industry professionals, addressing key issues such as user satisfaction and the design-performance gap.
