Social Work students will talk about their time spent volunteering in Uganda on Monday 23 March from 6.00pm to 7.30pm in the Business School (BSG/17).

Donna Travis, Jeanette Gilmartin and Amy Roberts, final year Social Work BSc (Hons) students, will share their experience of spending two weeks volunteering with the charity Wells of Hope in Uganda. Wells of Hope provides a boarding school and other support for children with parents in prison in Uganda, some of whom are on death row. Without support from Wells of Hope these children are very vulnerable to all forms of abuse and child sacrifice.

During their time in Uganda the students engaged in a wide variety of activities, ranging from working with the children at the school to accompanying them on a visit to see their parents in prison, as well as tracing families located in the Ugandan countryside.

At the event the students will share what they have learnt from volunteering, as well as how their visit benefited the charity.
