New resource to help staff support students

A new University-wide resource is now available to help all staff find key information about student support services and to assist staff in answering frequently asked questions from students.

The Student Support Knowledge Base is accessible by all University staff via the Student Support Information link within the Staff Hub (located in the left hand navigation column).

The Knowledge Base contains key information such as opening times, physical location and contact details for central support services, support in school offices and postgraduate administrative support.  The information is readily available in one place and will be updated by key nominated contacts as and when anything changes.

Additionally the Knowledge Base contains answers to frequently asked questions that may be posed to front-line staff by students.  These cover topics such as attendance monitoring, extenuating circumstances, student ID cards and many others.  The FAQs are searchable enabling you to quickly locate information whilst assisting a student.

The Student Support Knowledge Base has been developed by members of the School and Central Student Support Group.  This is one element of their work relating to the provision of exceptional, joined-up student support services to positively impact on the student experience, student retention and student attainment.

It is intended that the Knowledge Base will develop over time with additional information being added to further aid front-line staff in service delivery.  If you have any feedback about the resource please do not hesitate to forward to k.l.hobson@hud.ac.uk for further consideration within the School and Central Student Support Group.

We hope that the Knowledge Base will become a useful resource that will further enhance the support that we all provide to our students.
