Music Tech graduate receives Palme d’Or award

Music Technology graduate Matthew Wilcock has just won a Palme d’Or for his work in a short animated film by Ely Dagher about Beirut. Matthew composed the music with his sound design company, Zelig Sound, which he helped set up after graduating from the University in 2009.

Zelig Sound is an original music and sound design company based in London. The team has a diverse musical background and skill which gives them an exceptional understanding of all genres, briefs and techniques.  They produce unique sounds and music for commercials, feature films, games and radio.

The short animated film Waves ‘98 tells the story of Omar, a high school kid living in the northern suburb of Beirut in the late 1990s, struggling with his disillusionment with his social bubble. The film was awarded the Short Film Palme d’Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
