Kirklees Dementia Action Alliance

Kirklees Dementia Action Alliance (KDAA) has been formed with an ethos to involve as many people as possible in order to help make a “Kinder Kirklees” and a more compassionate community. It is a collection of stakeholders brought together to improve the lives of people with dementia in their area. Our members come from a range of organisations within the Kirklees community including bus companies, taxi firms, police, fire and rescue services, retail outlets, the local authority, charities, care providers and health trusts, faith groups, local associations, schools and the business sector.

Student and staff members of the Legal Advice Clinic have taken part in training to become dementia friendly and are proud to display our Dementia Friendly Kitemark which we were awarded by the Mayor on the 2nd June 2015 at the KDAA Second Annual Event.

Safe Places Scheme

‌‌‌Kirklees Dementia Action Alliance is working in partnership with the Safe Places Scheme to support people living with dementia and their carers across Kirklees. They recognise that sometimes when people go out things can happen particularly for dementia sufferers, where they may need some help. They might have lost their bus pass, may feel upset, confused and need a little help. The Safe Places Scheme is somewhere dementia sufferers can go for help. There is a network of Safe Places across Kirklees located in shops, offices and public buildings and the Legal Advice Clinic is currently working on becoming one of these 'safe places'.
