The Huddersfield Active Travel Project is here to help staff and students make healthier, smarter and cheaper choices about how you travel. They encourage people to make more journeys by foot, cycle, bus and train.
There is a range of free activities for staff. Spaces are limited so pre-booking is required by emailing: chris.wilson@sustrans.org.uk
Here is a taster of what is available:
FREE spin session tasters – worried about getting on a bike and your general fitness? Try a spin session.
FREE try cycling – a complete package with a dedicated instructor, where you can learn to ride a bike, develop your skills, become confident riding on the road and then make use of your talent with a long-term bike loan with all the trimmings.
Cycle maintenance workshops with FREE tool kit – learn everything you need to know either with a series of six hourly lunch time sessions or three two-hourly after-work sessions.
Are you champion material? – Huddersfield Active Travel are always looking for enthusiastic people to work with their current staff champions and support their mission in whatever way they can. In return for some of your time, they have some great rewards and can offer you the chance to become a ride, walk or maintenance leader and gain other qualifications like first aid and being able to use a throw rope.
Personal travel planning – do you want to be smarter about how you travel? Then they can help put a package together that should be able to make you healthier, feel better, save money and time.
Departmental team challenges and away days – let one of their friendly, qualified instructors provide you with an experience that will build your department’s communication, motivation and team working skills while supporting health and wellbeing.
Coast to Coast Challenge – ride the iconic Way of the Roses (Morecambe, Lancaster, York, Bridlington, 170 miles over 3 days), or the Trans Pennine Trail (Southport and Hornsea is 215 miles long).
