The Lived Experience Network

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 15:36:00 BST

The School of Human and Health Sciences is hosting the Lived Experience Network Showcase at the University on Tuesday 11 August from 10.00am to 3.30pm.

The Lived Experience Network (LEN) was part of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) Health and Social Care Cluster. Due to reorganisation at the HEA the network is now independent to the HEA and consists of a national network for people with a shared interest in patient and public involvement in higher education. The aim of the Network is to develop a critical alliance of people with real life experiences, students and academics, in order to enhance and improve practitioner education, patient experience and associated research in health and social care.

LEN is led by Jools Symons, Public and Patient Involvement Manager, at the Leeds Institute for Medical Education. The membership of the network has increased nationally and a number of very successful showcases have been held over the last two years in Leeds, Southampton, Surrey, Liverpool, Bradford and Sheffield. Showcases are held twice a year and are in demand. This time it's the turn of the University of Huddersfield.

The University’s social work and health sciences work will be showcased and any staff or students who have an involvement/interest in this area are welcome to come along.

Should you wish to attend please email Alison Morris A.Morris2@hud.ac.uk and Claire Wilson c.wilson@hud.ac.uk  by Tuesday 4 August 2015. It would be very helpful if you could let them know if you will be staying for lunch and for the afternoon session, plus any dietary, accessibility or other needs.
