Daryl Marples, Senior Lecturer for Computer Games Design at the University, accompanied and organised the visit to York for the teams and they were offered a chance to network with industry professionals, an invaluable experience for students who are about to graduate.
Student Gary Lloyd, who was at the event, said, 'The Game Republic Student Showcase continues to prove that the Yorkshire game development community is one of the strongest and supportive in the country. It's a fantastic opportunity that gives local talent the chance to exhibit their hard work to win prizes and recognition from companies such as Sumo Digital and Team 17. The standard of products throughout the day was clearly industry-quality and demonstrated an extra level of talent and dedication. I have no doubt that the vast majority of students exhibiting will have no issues finding work in industry and have made their tutors and universities proud.’
