eCover system for coursework extensions

Dear Colleagues

2014-15 saw the introduction of a new approach to managing coursework extension requests, aimed at increasing consistency across the University, thus improving the quality of the student experience and reducing burdens on academic staff.

Now for 2015-16 the eCover system for online extension requests is being extended campus-wide for the first time.  Preparations are currently underway to launch the system for the next academic year, including incorporating a few improvements based on staff feedback.  However, if you need to reacquaint yourself with the system, the following screencast is available to view.

To ensure the system can launch on time, colleagues from School Offices will be approaching relevant academic staff to collect data related to module assessments from this week. The deadline for this information to be uploaded to eCover is either:  Monday 24 August for EPD or Monday 7 September for all other Schools.

Any student requesting an extension will have to use this online system, accessed through the Portal.  Standard extension requests will usually be directed to Module Leaders, with more complex issues, resulting in requests for extensions of two weeks or more, being automatically directed to specifically nominated staff within each School.

Please note that individual members of academic or support staff cannot grant any form of extension outside this system; students enquiring about extensions should be directed to the Portal.

Thank you

Tim Thornton, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning)
