Business Management graduate Sam Wood has triple celebrations this July. Sam achieved a First Class Honours degree at the University of Huddersfield graduation ceremonies and received an ‘Excellence in Business Placement’ award for his placement year at Lloyds Banking Group at the Department of People, Management and Organisation’s prize-giving awards. Lloyds must have been impressed with Sam because he is also looking forward to starting a graduate scheme with them later this month. “I successfully obtained a place on the Lloyds Banking Group Risk Graduate scheme as a direct result of my sandwich placement year”, Sam commented. The former Huddersfield New College student also combined his studies with a role as a Student Ambassador for the Business School, helping to inspire the next generation of students to opt for business courses in their university choices; “I gained a wealth of experience through being an Ambassador, and helped to promote the University in a positive light. Now that I’ve almost graduated, it feels good to give something back” reflects Sam.

An ambitious graduate, Sam intends to progress up the career ladder at Lloyds and train for Chartered Banker status. He also hasn’t ruled out returning to the University of Huddersfield in the future; “I’d love to complete a Master’s degree or an MBA, and maybe in the longer term even a PhD!” We’d certainly welcome Sam back and will be following his career with interest!
