Luca Margaglione’s Italian takeaway Da Luca is going from strength to strength

Luca Margaglione and Da Luca's IT takes true entrepreneurial spirit to open your own business straight out of university, but this didn’t faze University of Huddersfield graduate Luca Margaglione, whose Italian takeaway is going from strength to strength.

Since completing a degree in Business Management, 23-year-old Luca has worked tirelessly on opening his own business, and as a result Da Luca is now in its third month and exceeding all expectations.

The takeaway prides itself on delivering a truly authentic Italian experience and the young entrepreneur is sure he has found a niche in the market to ensure its success.

“If you look around there are plenty of takeaways, but none of them specialise on one thing in particular.  Giving the public an authentic and traditional Italian experience is our unique selling point,” said Luca.

Four years ago Luca worked in his mother’s Italian takeaway as a delivery driver and soon acquired a taste for the cooking side of the things.  All of Luca’s culinary knowledge and skills comes from within the family.

From initial business ideas through to the finished result Luca says using the services of the University’s Enterprise Team has been extremely useful.  The team assists enterprising students and recent graduates, like Luca, to develop their business ideas through one-to-one meetings with their business advisors, a series of business skills events and where appropriate, access to proof of concept funding.

Da Luca's “I needed help with the design and logo for my business and the advisors put me on to Joshua Robins Graphic Design, who has done an amazing job,” said Luca.  Joshua, a Huddersfield student entrepreneur, has set up his own design business as part of his placement year and is based within the University’s Duke of York Young Entrepreneur Centre

The University’s Enterprise Team offers a range of support to recent graduates starting their own businesses and Luca can continue to use their help even though his business is now up and running.

Based on the Bay Horse Roundabout in Lindley, Huddersfield, the takeaway has already received numerous reviews with 5-star ratings for the food and service on offer.

Lucky locals will be able to experience a true taste of Italy – made with the freshest of ingredients – and they deliver!
