Dr Kaushal Keraminiyage will be representing GDRC at the International Workshop “Barcelona’s Experience in Resilience”, to be held on February 24-25th, 2015, at Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site (Barcelona). The workshop is organized by the City Council of Barcelona, in partnership with UN-Habitat City Resilience Profiling Programme and BCN Urban Resilience Partnership. This public-private alliance, set up in 2013 with a group of companies and high-level research centres based in Barcelona and deeply engaged in building the city’s resilience strategy, constitutes a unique model of public private collaboration all over the world.
Building on that experience, this international event aims at sharing Barcelona’s Resilience model from a stakeholder perspective, deepening in the difficulties and key factors for success, underlining challenges and hoping to exchange the knowledge learned from experience with cities facing similar challenges. While taking a hands-on approach, the event will unfold in several interactive sessions in the form of plenary panels, technical presentations, technical workshops and site visits. Interactive sessions include: Barcelona’s experience in resilience: setting the stage for building resilient cities; resilience governance; protection of critical infrastructures; planning urban resilience; managing urban risk.
This will provide the appropriate platform for Kaushal to showcase GDRC activities also within our role as an UNHABITAT University.
