Visiting Scholar joins CRISS in December 2015

Dr Ahonaa Roy will be joining CRISS as visiting researcher in December for a month. Dr Roy trained as an Anthropologist with her MS and D. Phil in the School of development at the University of Sussex. Prior to this her training has been in Sociology, and she has taught at the Delhi School of Economics. Her areas of interests are anthropology of development, medical anthropology, sexuality, governance and participation, anthropology of body and embodiment, post-colonial feminism and subaltern studies. Ahonaa has been the member of the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) of the Ministry of Health, Government of India. She has worked with various national and International development organizations and research institutes, in India and overseas. Her work and intellectual scholarships intersects ethnographic research to that of the policy building; she has published in various national and International journals. Dr Roy will be working with Professor Monro in developing areas of common interest concerning rights and citizenship.
