Heritage Quay Heritage Quay is the official archive for the University of Huddersfield, acting as the guardian of the archives of other organisations, families and individuals dating back over 200 years. Their 21st-century role is to collect and secure the future of archives, both digital and physical, to preserve them for generations to come, making them as accessible and available as possible.

If you start 2016 hungry for more than leftover Christmas pud or have a stack of resolutions to get done, Heritage Quay has got you covered.

Join a clubThe Listening Room is a music club for the curious. On the last Tuesday of each month they get together and listen to carefully curated selections from their internationally significant music collections. In January the theme is ‘Move Your Feet’ (dancing along is strictly optional).

Learn a new skill: If you’re determined to try something different or give your mind a stretch sign up for their Palaeography course in January and a world of 'oldie-worldie' handwriting will magically become clear.

‌‌Discover the world around you: On Saturday 23 January come along to the Heritage Quay Maps Day. On hand will be archaeologists, historians, geographers and more to show that maps are for more than just getting from A to B.

If music is more your thing places are still free on the brass band course ‘Slate-Grey Rain and Polished Euphoniums’ which explores the history of bands in Huddersfield and beyond.

Help someone out: Maybe you want to give back a bit? Rugby League fans can lend their memories as they put names to faces at the Photo IDing day. Or perhaps you have a story to share about the Hops? In 2016 they’re celebrating the rich history of Hopkinsons and you can find out how to get involved at the information day.

Heritage Quay Do something brave: Maybe you fancy taking a risk in 2016? At Hardcore Classical they’re playing the loudest, weirdest and most challenging music they’ve got: are you up to the challenge?

Warm up for the new Rugby League season: Finally, rugby league mad families can come along to the Family Fun Friday on Friday 19 February; they’ll be producing handmade fanzines with sharpies, typewriters and some excellent puns!
