On Thursday 7 May 2015, millions of people across the UK will go to the polls to elect our representatives in Parliament for the next five years. This has been called by some to be the ‘election of a generation’ and your chance to elect someone who fits with your ideals and beliefs.

To help you make an informed decision, The Students’ Union has arranged the opportunity for you to put your questions to the candidates standing to become the Member of Parliament for Huddersfield.

The event will take place on Tuesday 21 April at 5.30 – 7.30pm on Floor 5 of Student Central. The event will be hosted by Students’ Union Executive Officers, Josh Elderfield and Coco Toma.

Participants confirmed so far are:

Barry Sheerman – Labour and Co-operative Party
Rob Butler – UK Independence Party (UKIP)
Itrat Ali – Conservative Party
Andrew Cooper – Green Party
Zulfiqar Ali – Liberal Democrats

The Students’ Union President, Josh Elderfield explains, “This is a great opportunity for students to come along and meet the people who want be our representative in the next parliament. This is your chance to ask the hard questions and find out a bit more about what each candidate stands for.”

If you would like to submit a question in advance then please don’t hesitate to email them over to SUGeneralElection@hud.ac.uk
