Heritage Quay To celebrate the opening of Heritage Quay, the University’s new archive facility, the Archives team invites you to attend the first of their behind the scenes tours that will showcase the brand new heritage facility and some of the University’s fascinating collections that date back over 200 years.

The opening of Heritage Quay marks the most significant milestone of a five year project that has been jointly funded by the University and the Heritage Lottery Fund. The project will allow the University to professionally preserve, manage and promote the unique collections in its care through new and exciting ways. Heritage Quay’s facilities will provide sector-leading archive accommodation and a state-of-the-art exhibition and group space that includes interactive multi-touch tables for searching the collections, and the Big Curvy Screen that uses gesture recognition technology to enable users to physically interact with treasures from the archives.

All members of staff are welcome and there is no need to book, just meet at the Heritage Quay welcome point (Central Services Building level 3) at 1.00pm (the tour lasts approximately 30 minutes) on Friday 24 October.

Regular ‘Through the Quay-hole’ tours are planned, so if you are unable to attend on Friday 24 October, please look out for our future tours that will be advertised here: www.heritagequay.org and via the Twitter feed @Heritage_Quay
