The Future of Rugby League at the home of its Past

Mon, 20 Oct 2014 05:00:00 BST

On Saturday 25 October from 11.30am to 5.30pm Heritage Quay is hosting Supporters Direct ‘Voice of the Fans’ event. The day will provide a platform for Rugby League fans to debate the key issues and challenges facing the modern game in the company of some of those involved in running it. Super League General Manager Blake Solly will open the event with a keynote speech about forthcoming changes to the League Structure and there will be smaller sessions exploring ways fans can become more involved in the sport.

As the event is taking place in Heritage Quay, which houses the Rugby League Board archive, the day will feature a session about how the University and its heritage partners work with the rich history of the sport, with practical tips and advice for those interested in doing something themselves. Other sessions include information on Supporter Liaison Officers and the work of Rugby League Cares.

Participation and Engagement Officer, David Smith commented: “One of the ambitions of Heritage Quay is to provide a space where members of the Rugby League community can come together and share their passion for the sport, so we are proud to be able to host the Voice of the Fans event and contribute to the programme. This is a great opportunity to talk to those at the heart of the sport face-to-face, so it’s an opportunity not to be missed.”
