New cycle shelters on campus

Cycle shelters Three new sets of cycle shelters have recently been introduced for use on campus.  They feature an enclosed design with a roof and are double storey, therefore increasing the storage capacity.

The new shelters are situated where the Harold Wilson Building and West Building meet and towards the end of the side of the Technology Building.  They have replaced the previous shelters in these locations and all other cycle shelters on campus are still in use.

Chris Wilson, Sustrans Project Officer for Huddersfield Active Travel, commented, “There are more points to lock your bike too, helping to prevent theft.  Please remember that you should use a good quality, ideally ‘Solid Secure’ rated D type lock and cable lock at the same time. You should also make sure that any ‘quick release’ fixings, such as a front wheel, are attached to a lock also.”

High quality locks and other cycle accessories are available at a fraction of the retail price from the campus Sustrans Project Officer, Chris Wilson, contact: Chris.Wilson@sustrans.org.uk

These new facilities have been funded by Kirklees Council with support from Sustrans, the Students’ Union and Estates and Facilities.
