Black History Month Black History Month is an international annual month of recognising and valuing the inspirational individuals and events that have shaped black and African diaspora. In the UK, and across the world, we remember and celebrate the important people in history throughout the month that shaped our society today.

First being celebrated in the UK in 1987, Black History Month is marked annually in the UK during the month of October, with important reference to the history of black society.

Join members from our international student societies and academic staff for celebrations, culture and fun on Wednesday 22 October from 10.00am to 4.00pm in Student Central. Experience the ‘Back in the Day’ photographic studio and have your portrait taken in the dapper and elegant fashions of the ‘Empire Windrush’ generation.

The event, sponsored by the International Office is FREE and open to everyone.

If you would like to get involved or help on the tables please email Campusevents@hud.ac.uk
