Mon, 24 Nov 2014 05:30:00 GMT
This seminar series provides an opportunity for colleagues to hear about the work of our National and University Teaching Fellows; and to facilitate the sharing of their approaches and experiences in teaching and learning.
The next seminar takes place on Wednesday 3 December at 12.15pm to 1.15pm. ‘If technology is the answer, what’s the question?’ will be led by Dr Rupert Ward.
Rupert will explain how technology has been a key part of his journey to gaining his national teaching fellowship (awarded in 2013), explain the lessons learnt along the way and how these influence his current work. He will share his thoughts on the increasing use of educational technology in data analysis within universities and how systems, dashboards and targeted interventions are precursors to the next big challenge in higher education.
Rupert is Head of Informatics in the School of Computing and Engineering where he combines his expertise to incorporate a broad range of educational perspectives into student-focused initiatives. For example, in virtual environments, mobile applications and web-based development in areas such as, personal development, multimedia production, entrepreneurship, assessment and feedback, study planning and academic resourcing.
