Music - Winter Warmers

Our Winter Warmer concert series aims to warm hearts this December and get people in the festive spirit.

This December, Music at Huddersfield features a variety of festive concerts free for students in St. Paul’s Hall.

Winter Warmers covers a variety of music for choirs, brass and wind ensembles, orchestras and big band.

Coming up on Thursday 4 December, a fantastic Christmas-themed evening concert by the University Chamber Choir and Early Music Ensemble.  “Ave maris stella” presents renaissance music in praise of the Virgin Mary, by Stoltzer and Festa with elegant Italian dance music.

On Monday 15 December the University Symphonic Wind Orchestra and Big Band performs works by Adam Gorb, Martin Ellerby and music by student composers. Flautist Aimee Calderbank plays 'A Lindisfarne Rhapsody'. The Big Band will perform a “Brief History of the Big Band”, a set with music from all the eras of the last century.

The last concert of December is given by the University Choir and Symphony Orchestra. The group of students perform Haydn's 'Maria Theresa' Mass and Beethoven's Seventh Symphony.

Tickets are available from our online store or on the door of each concert.
