On the 14th April Laura King, Jake Moore and Rosie Turner turned the tables on law academics by presenting at the Association of Law Teachers (ALT) Conference. Normally an opportunity for university lecturers to explain how they teach, these three advisors from the Legal Advice Clinic presented on how they, as students, learned from their experience working in the Legal Advice Clinic.
Laura, Jake and Rosie were completely undaunted by the full conference room at the Queens Hotel in Leeds and gave a confident presentation about reflective learning that explored a number of academic models before speaking about how they worked within the learning environment.
The study was clearly very thought-provoking as the students were given the chance to respond to a number of questions that arose before a wider discussion ensued about ethics and clinical practice in legal education. There was also thanks due to Clinic Director Phil Drake whose input and support was present throughout the project.
