Fri, 28 Mar 2014 06:00:00 GMT

The Yorkshire Network for Canadian Studies Seminar series presents a talk by Dr. Gillian Roberts on Tuesday 1 April, from 4.30 to 5.45pm in WG/13.

Gillian’s first (award-winning) monograph, entitled Prizing Literature: The Celebration and Circulation of National Culture (University of Toronto Press, 2011), focuses upon Canadian writers Michael Ondaatje, Carol Shields, Rohinton Mistry and Yann Martel, considering their relationship to national and international literary prizes, as well as the ways in which international celebration is involved in negotiating the identities of immigrant writers.

Her second monograph, currently in press, focuses on cultural representations of the Canada-US border and she is the Co-Investigator on the Culture and the Canada-US Border International Research Network, funded by the Leverhulme Trust. Her current research project involves a book-length study of postcolonial film adaptations.

This event is funded by a Network and Outreach Grant awarded by the Foundation for Canadian Studies.

All welcome.
