Welcome Dr Leigh Fleming

The School of Computing and Engineering is pleased to welcome Dr Leigh Fleming to the position of Subject Area Leader for Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. Leigh was formerly the Course Leader for the Engineering Foundation Year and began her academic career at the University of Huddersfield as an undergraduate student on the Engineering Design: Mechanical BEng (Hons) course before going on to undertake important research into surface metrology and medical engineering.
She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has extensive teaching and research engineering experience. We are delighted to welcome her to her new role and offer sincere thanks to her predecessor, Dr Simon Barrans, in his new role as Reader in Turbocharger Engineering at the Turbocharger Research Institute.
Leigh says, "I am really excited about taking on the challenge of Subject Area Leader for Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, I have watched the area grow under the leadership of Simon and I hope to build on his success at this exciting time for engineering."
