The event takes place on 12 and 13 June and also covers the topics of digital media - with the keynote address by Blippar founder Stephen Shaw – and reporting international news in a changing world.  There’ll also be a panel discussion on internships and placements led by the National Union of Journalists’ vice president, Tim Dawson.  This is the full programme of events

Journalism and Media staff at the University have been actively involved in the AJE since its foundation in 1997.  Steve Burnip is currently its treasurer. The organisation was set up to develop good practice in journalism education in the UK and to provide a discussion forum for academic staff.  Our lecturers regularly contribute to the discussions and Ruth Stoker says “The AJE offers us very valuable opportunities to talk to colleagues from other institutions, share good practice, and come away with new ways of approaching our teaching. Conferences in particular help us keep up to date on current thinking in journalism. A lot of our research ideas have come out of discussions at AJE events, and of course it is always good to network.”

The AJE has also launched its own journal (Journalism Education).  You can read more about the organisation here.
