The UK's number one Formula Student team, Team HARE, launched their newest vehicle, Hare 14, today.
The team invited former Superbike Champion and professional motorcycle road racer, James Whitham, to unveil this year’s vehicle. The launch of HARE 14 was also attended by the Team's sponsors and supporters, including those who helped them with their crowdfunding efforts earlier this year.
The Formula Student competition is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and is described by the Institute as a “testing ground for the next generation of young engineers”. The international event attracts teams from all over the world and invites engineering students to design, build, develop and market a single-seat racing car before they go on to compete in international events including events in Spain and Hungary.
Team HARE won a well-deserved victory at Silverstone in 2013 and will be defending their title at the Formula Student Challenge at the Silverstone Circuit in July.
Team Leader Dan Briggs says ‘’Working on Team HARE has been a fantastic opportunity to find out what it takes to build a car from scratch that can compete internationally. We've all put out heart and soul into HARE-14 and worked round the clock to get the car ready for this year's challenge. We'd really like to thank all our supporters, sponsors and everyone who joined in the crowdfunding - we hope to do you and the University proud."
