No Smoking Policy

Mon, 30 Jun 2014 05:00:00 BST

As you will be aware the University operates a No Smoking policy on campus.  There have been some recent updates to this policy, which are highlighted below:

  • Smoking is prohibited at building entrances and exits, adjacent to and directly below windows. This is to prevent repeated exposure to second hand smoke by those working or studying in adjacent areas.
  • Anyone wishing to smoke must do so away from building entrances, exits and windows.
  • The policy applies to vapour cigarettes, electronic cigarettes and similar devices.
  • Staff, students, contractors and visitors are all required to abide by this policy. Anyone caught smoking in areas where it is not permitted will be politely asked to desist.   Failure to do so will be dealt with under the University’s disciplinary procedures.
  •  A full copy of the policy can be found here: No Smoking Policy

Anyone wishing to give up smoking can contact the NHS smoking helpline on 0800 0224332 for support and advice. Information is also available at: http://smokefree.nhs.uk
