Dean of the University of Huddersfield Business School, Professor Chris Cowton, is internationally renowned for his research and writing on financial ethics.  Not surprisingly, the ongoing financial crisis has prompted significant interest in his work on banking ethics.  So far in 2014, his lecture entitled “Can we trust the banks?” has been given in Shanghai and Amman in Jordan while on University business overseas and, as a result of personal invitations, in Bilbao and Pamplona in Spain.

Commenting on his experience of giving the lecture, Prof. Cowton said: “At one level it’s a pity that, as a result of the financial crisis, the world has become interested in the kinds of things I have been writing on for many years, but I am pleased that I have some ideas to share.  Of course, I always learn something in the process, and it’s been fascinating to gain insights into the perspectives of people in such very different parts of the world”.
