The Santander branch was opened at the University’s campus in a ceremony presided over by the Chancellor, Sir Patrick Stewart, who praised in particular the help and sympathetic treatment that overseas students would receive.  Welcoming Sir Patrick to the new branch was Simon Bray, who heads Santander’s university division in the UK, and he hailed the new agreement as “an amazing example of a relationship that we have with a university”.

“We want partners like Huddersfield who are really pro-active and embrace what we are trying to do in terms of support,” continued Mr Bray.  He stressed that Kiren Sirha, who takes charge of the new campus branch, has the job title University Relationship Branch Manager.

Globally, Santander has been collaborating with universities for 17 years and has signed agreements with a network of more than 1,000 institutions in 20 countries.
