MA experimentalist musician releases new work

As well as his work in experimental music, Phil is also a photographer interested in textures and grains of sounds found in objects, field recordings, and archive sounds. His work combines these sounds with abstract photographs, approached with the same attention to minute details, to create minimal and narrative-resistant audiovisual works. He's currently developing this practice in the Sound Music Image Research Centre (SMI/rc) at the University.

Phil’s work extends to other multimedia/discipline projects. He is composer in residence at Sort of Theatre, and has produced works, and contributed  pieces that utilise dance, puppetry, spoken word and film. He's also a performer, working with objects and samples in several ensembles, including Galvanize, vlookup and the University's edges ensemble. And he improvises with voice and objects, in both free and text score led contexts.
