Congratulations to Business School lecturer, Frances-Louise McGregor who has been recognised at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Awards for being the best Council Rep in the country.
Fran, who is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Course Leader for the brand new Strategic HRM MSc, was awarded this honourable prize for her tireless efforts as a volunteer Chair of the CIPD West Yorkshire branch. The CIPD is the professional body for human resources and people development and its main aim is to champion better work and working lives for the benefit of individuals and businesses.
Fran’s work has helped the CIPD implement national membership changes and locally deliver professional development events which have included equine assisted learning, communication skills with a hostage negotiator and mentoring support which has led to successful upgrading for West Yorkshire members. After receiving the award Fran said, “It is so important to recognise the efforts and achievements of our teams, be that in the workplace, in our volunteering or even at home. I am supported by a great branch committee in West Yorkshire and we will continue to devote and develop our efforts to providing both the Institute at a strategic level and members locally with insight and a clear focus on how well HR develops our workplaces, our colleagues, staff and ourselves.”
As well as this fantastic achievement, the Business School is also celebrating the brand new Strategic HRM MSc getting validated by the CIPD. “Students who successfully complete this one year course will be awarded with CIPD Professional Associate membership recognition which is becoming more and more globally accepted; Associate is the first level of CIPD professional membership and is recognised with the title Assoc CIPD to complement the MSc designation"
"This will be a huge benefit for students entering the job market. Employers looking for HR management and HR development staff are increasingly making this accreditation a mandatory requirement, as it demonstrates skill, knowledge and ability.”
