Emily Cliffe, who shares a huge passion and interest for Fashion and high end designers says “I decided to join the course at the University of Huddersfield because it allows you to express your creative mind and it also involves a placement year out in the industry which helps prepare and inspire you for final year”.

Surface Design by Emily Cliffe at Fyodor Golan During her placement, Emily was involved on a range of projects working alongside the designers behind Fyodor Golan. One of the projects she enjoyed the most was creating and assisting in the design and development process of the surface design for the Autumn/Winter 2014 collection. Emily told us that she is very proud that this was seen at the Autumn/Winter 2014 London Fashion Week Show, magazines such as the Italian Vogue and other online media.

“I wanted to work for Fyodor Golan because I love advanced, detailed embellishment and I wanted to expand my skills on beading and textile work as well as developing my garment technology and industry skills”.

Emily describes working at Fyodor Golan as a great experience because it was based along with other designer studios in Somerset House, a major arts and cultural centre in the heart of London. This is renowned for holding the London Fashion Week and a variety of renowned exhibitions each year. This has enabled Emily to work in a very creative environment and she says “it is like sharing two experiences in one”.

After graduation, Emily wishes to work in the industry assisting head of production or work in buying or merchandising.
