Dr Jo Woodiwiss has been elected as Co-Convenor of the British Sociological Association (BSA) Families and Relationships (FAR) study group.

Dr Woodiwiss has been a member of BSA since 1999 and attended the annual conference every year ever since. She was elected at the study group meeting at the annual BSA conference in Leeds in April 2014.

The other convenor of the group is Dr Kathryn Almack from the University of Nottingham. The convenors will be involved in organising the FAR stream and sub plenary speakers at the next three BSA annual conferences. They are also planning to hold a number of events, such as seminars, workshops and conferences. In addition to FAR study group events, the group plan to hold some joint events with other study groups such as the BSA Gender study group and the BSA Social Aspects of Death, Dying and Bereavement study group.
