Students' Union Elections

Tue, 18 Feb 2014 10:39:00 GMT

It’s that time of year again, when campus is filled with posters, banners, free cake and candidates asking for your vote. This year’s election promises to be one of the biggest and most exciting in recent years, with rumours of candidates from all over the university.

The Students’ Union elections are to choose the next leaders of the SU - the President, Vice Presidents, Union Councillors and NUS delegates. They will represent over 20,000 students both locally on campus and nationally as the part of the National Union of Students.

Standing in the elections can be a life changing decision.  Current President, Nosheen Dad, says ‘by becoming a candidate in the elections you have a unique opportunity to help create change for students, lead a multimillion pound organisation and represent over 20,000 students. I have loved my time as an Exec Officer here at Huddersfield and wish all the best to everyone taking part in the elections.’

Nosheen continued ‘I would encourage anyone who is thinking about standing to take the chance because you never know what could happen. Elections are about leadership and taking that chance to make a difference for Huddersfield students, both now and for years to come.’

To get involved in the elections you can go to www.huddersfield.su/elections and download our candidate pack today. Moreover, if you know of anyone who you think would be a great candidate then you can submit their name through our confidential ‘recommend a friend’ form on the website http://www.huddersfield.su/elections/recommend.
