Welcome Centre Food Bank collection point

Mon, 08 Dec 2014 05:35:00 GMT

Welcome Centre ‌Unison is organising a collection point for the Welcome Centre Food Bank and all staff are invited to drop off items in the Large Conference Room, Level 7 CSB, between 11.00am and 1.00pm on Wednesday 10 December

The Welcome Centre is a registered charity which is based in the Huddersfield Methodist Mission and offers practical support to individuals and families in crisis. The people they help are facing job loss, debt and eviction, homelessness, fleeing violence, have drug or alcohol problems or are struggling with mental or physical health issues and are referred to the Centre by one of many services or agencies in Kirklees.  They appreciate that anyone can find themselves in need of support at difficult times and help to restore people’s dignity and relieve stress, not only by providing basic items, but also by offering a listening ear, information and sign-posting to specialist organisations.

The items they have requested are as follows:

  • Cup-a-soup
  • Cereal bars
  • Meat and fish paste
  • Dried or tinned pulses
  • Tins of cooked meat and fish
  • Instant mash
  • Basmati rice
  • Rice pudding
  • Vegetarian baby jars
  • Shampoo (small)
  • Disposable razors
  • Single and double duvets
  • Rucksacks
  • Tin openers
  • Pans and cooking trays
  • Cleaning spray
  • Washing powder
  • Baby soap
  • Towels
