The Forensic and Analytical Science team are pleased to announce three forthcoming conferences.

The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences (CSoFS) will be holding its annual student conference at the University on Saturday December 6.  The conference theme is career pathways in forensic science, and will aim to give students and graduates an insight into the careers that their degree will open for them.

The University’s Dr Anna Williams will open the conference and Dr Ben Jones will take part in a panel discussion.  The programme features a range of speakers who will give an insight into career options in industry, law enforcement and academia, and an opportunity to tour our Forensic Science facilities at the University.

Booking is open on the Society’s website.

Dr Stefano Vanin is organising two international conferences in 2015. The 1st International Conference in Funerary Archaeoentomology (ICFAE) will take place on May 6, and will be an opportunity for researchers in this cutting edge scientific discipline to share their work. Dr Jean-Bernard Huchet, whose seminal 1996 paper introduced the term Funerary Achaoentomology, is a member of the scientific committee and will give a keynote speech.

The ICFAE will be followed by the 12th meeting of the European Association for Forensic Entomology (EAFE) from the evening of May 6 until May 9.

This conference plays a fundamental role in the life of the EAFE and in the development of Forensic Entomology in Europe. International delegates are welcome, and all continents have been represented at previous meetings. Dr Martin Hall, from the Natural History Museum of London, will open the meeting with a talk entitled “Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?” which will define the “state of the art” of this discipline and define the future challenges.

Abstracts for oral presentations and posters for both conferences are invited, and delegate registration is open now via the two conference websites, with an early bird discount available until March 2 2015. A reduced rate package is available for delegates who wish to attend both conferences. For additional information please contact Dr Vanin by email or visit the ICAFAE or EAFE Conference websites
