Three funded PhD opportunities in Pharmacy

The Department of Pharmacy is pleased to announce three funded PhD studentships.

These projects will be suitable for candidates who hold or expect to achieve a Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with first class or upper second class honours, or an equivalent qualification, in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences or another relevant scientific discipline such as chemistry or biological sciences. The deadline for applications is Monday December 22 2014.

Surface imaging of pharmaceutical dosage forms

This interdisciplinary project, supervised by Prof Barbara Conway in collaboration with Prof Mike Reading will develop new surface imaging techniques to analyse pharmaceutical dosage forms.

Detection of circulating cancer cells in patients with pancreatic cancer with a view to developing early detection techniques and novel therapeutics

Under the supervision of Prof Roger Phillips, this project will evaluate the effectiveness of a variety of biomarkers in the early detection of pancreatic cancer, which is essential for effective treatment.

Natural Products Targeting Neuroinflammation

This project will investigate novel phytoestrogen analogues to target molecular signalling pathways in neuroinflammation. Under the supervision of Dr Olumayokun Olajide, the project will involve techniques including protein expression studies, molecular biology and RNAi.
