The First Year Welcome Survey

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 05:20:00 GMT

The Student Support Steering Group is currently running a survey to gauge engagement and satisfaction levels of our first year full time undergraduates.  The aims of the survey are to:

  • Measure students’ expectations and the importance of various aspects of their interactions and experience to date;
  • Identify and explore reasons why students may have considered leaving within the first term;
  • Test awareness of student support available;
  • Assess the degree to which students feel engaged both socially and academically with the University.

The results will provide the University with a much clearer understanding of the priorities and pressures that our first year students face and help us to develop initiatives to address these.   In order for results to be meaningful, we need to encourage our students to complete the survey.  Each first year student has been emailed a personalised link to the survey to their university email address and the survey is open until the end of term.  Please encourage your first year students to take part in the survey in your lectures, tutorials and seminars.  Results will be analysed in the new year and be available at course, school and university levels.

From Monday 8 December the survey will be promoted across campus via plasma screens and social media channels.  If you have questions about any aspect of the survey, please contact Sarah Broxton (PINS) email: S.Broxton@hud.ac.uk or Sarah Banton-Place (Marketing), email: s.l.banton-place@hud.ac.uk
