Sport Science BSc(Hons) and Sport, Exercise and Nutrition BSc(Hons) are two new courses launched by the University's School of Human and Health Sciences, available to students for 2015-16 entry.

The School of Human and Health Sciences has launched two new undergraduate courses within the department of Health and Wellbeing, focusing on sport science, exercise and nutrition. Developing fields in the UK, demand for expertise in these areas is increasing.

Research has shown that exercise, sport and physical activity can improve physiological and psychological health and wellbeing, and is therefore important in the long-term prevention and management of a wide range of diseases.

However, the challenges of encouraging people to lead more active lifestyles remain, as studies prove the number of people with diseases linked to physical inactivity and poor nutrition is still increasing dramatically.

Both the Sport Science BSc(Hons) and Sport, Exercise and Nutrition BSc(Hons) courses offer students the option to study full or part-time and will join the department’s existing course Exercise Science BSc(Hons), creating a suite of courses in this area. Students will also have the opportunity to undertake professional qualifications including Gym Instruction, Personal Trainer and Exercise Referral, as well as Sport National Governing Body awards.

Further information about the Sport Science BSc(Hons) and Sport, Exercise and Nutrition BSc(Hons) courses is available on the University’s course finder.
