When the University of Huddersfield won the Santander-sponsored Times Higher Education University of the Year title, it was already in discussions with the Santander Global Universities Division about joining the Santander Universities network

Santander Universities logo This is a university network that Santander supports annually with 3,500 scholarships, grants and internships with small-and medium-sized enterprises, as well as other activities.

Santander will grant a total of £32 million to UK universities over the next three years as part of its long-term commitment to higher education, which now encompasses over 1,000 universities in 20 countries, helping students and academics to achieve their hopes and dreams.

In the first year, for University of Huddersfield students, Santander will sponsor £50,000 worth of international student scholarships, student mobility awards and start-up funding, as well as part-funding a number of graduate internship opportunities.  Full details of potential awards and how to apply will be available to students in due course.

Simon Bray, Director of Santander Universities, said: “We were extremely impressed with the enthusiasm to embrace Santander Universities and the commitment we have both made to work collaboratively for the benefit of the University of Huddersfield.  Our missions seem connected and with this synergy, I can clearly see that our partnership will flourish.”
