Client Interviewing Success

This March, two undergraduate law students, Lauren Arafat and Lauren Howley, represented the University of Huddersfield at the national finals of the Client Interviewing Competition where they finished 4th overall.
The Competition is an annual event that puts prospective lawyers through their paces as they interview and advise a ‘client’ (played by an actor). They are then assessed by a panel of three judges across a range of criteria including ‘establishing an effective professional relationship’, ‘legal analysis’ and ‘ethical behaviour’.
After a gruelling regional heat in Sheffield our students qualified for the national finals hosted by the University of Winchester. It was here that their practice and teamwork paid dividends as they beat the likes of University College London and Cardiff University to finish in a very respectable 4th place and earn the plaques seen in the picture.
The achievement was made only more sweet by the fact that Huddersfield were one of very few teams represented solely by undergraduate students and that this is the very first time that the Law School has entered a team!
