Over 3 days this April, the University of Huddersfield Business School hosted the 11th annual Conference of ALDinHE, Association for Learning Development in Higher Education).

The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Learning Development Spaces and Places’.

Delegates had access to a range of sessions around themes such as ‘Who owns Learning Development?’, ‘Changing Staff and Students Identities: the impact of learning development’, ‘Addressing the Marginalisation of learning development’ and ‘Working Collaboratively to support learning development’.

During the conference, almost 150 members of the association including learning developers and practitioners from across the world had the opportunity to share ideas, methods and experiences from their different institutions.

The Business School’s Learning Development Group (LDG) works more closely and extensively with students compared to some other institutions present and could share lessons from this approach with other delegates.

Delegates also had the opportunity to experience Conference Dinner reception held in the spectacular surroundings of Huddersfield Town Hall. The meal was accompanied by a grand piano on the stage played by a 2nd year music student from the University.

It was the first time that the University of Huddersfield has hosted the ALDinHE conference and organisers and guests agreed it was an overwhelming success.
