Dr Samira Abonawara

The new academic year for FEGReG began with a PhD completion for Dr Samira Abonawara with a thesis entitled ‘The Development of Auditing and the Possible Existence of an Expectation Gap in Libya’.  Supervised by Dr Julie Drake and Professor Chris Cowton, the external examiner was Dr Andrew Higson of Loughborough University.

Dr Julie Drake commented: “I am thrilled that Samira has achieved her ambition and can pursue her academic career. Samira worked hard to present a comprehensive study, showing tenacity in the collection of data, which contributes to the understanding of the development of auditing and the regulatory framework  in developing economies.”

Samira returns to her academic post at the largest university in Libya, Alfateh, Tripoli, to share her knowledge with the accountants of the future, who will contribute to the development of the Libyan economy.
