Centre for Research in the Social Sciences (CRISS) Director, Jim McAuley presented findings about ‘Contemporary Loyalist narratives: collective memory and shared futures’

The Political Studies Association of Ireland Conference was held at Trinity College, Dublin, 18-20 November 2013. CRISS was represented by staff whose research focuses on political identity throughout the UK. Centre Director Professor Jim McAuley, who is also a member of editorial board of the PSAI’s journal Irish Political Studies, presented findings about ‘Contemporary Loyalist narratives: collective memory and shared futures’.

Meanwhile, Research Fellow Dr Shaun McDaid presented his latest research, building on his recent book, about the failure of power-sharing in Northern Ireland during the 1970s, and the implications of the reasons behind this failure for our understanding of the factors affecting the prolongation of conflict in Northern Ireland and elsewhere.

McDaid and McAuley are working towards a joint publication related to contemporary political identities in Northern Ireland to be completed by mid-2014.
