euspen (the European society for precision engineering and nanotechnology) is a leading technical body in the field of ultra-precision and nano manufacturing technologies. It links leading industrialists and researchers worldwide and has representation across over 32 countries.

Every year they hold an International Conference and Exhibition and this year, the 13th year, it was held in Berlin where there were over 160 papers presented, over 40 exhibiting organisations and approximately 350 delegates.

The EPSRC Centre was represented by Professor Liam Blunt who presented a paper on ‘Defect Assessment on Large Area Roll to Roll Substrates’ and by Dr Xichun Luo who displayed his poster ‘An atomistic investigation of FIB process damage on diamond’.

The Centre also had a stand at the conference to raise the profile of our research and showcase a new prototype instrument.

All exhibitors had the opportunity to give a five-minute presentation to delegates about their organisation which was a great way to provide an overview of the EPSRC Centre and promote our studentships and areas of collaboration.

It was a great conference and exhibition, well-organised and attended. We’re looking forward to euspen 2014 in Dubrovnik!
