Aimee Bailey – Business Management & Leadership

Aimee Bailey, a second year Business Management and Leadership student at the University of Huddersfield has had a hectic but very productive year so far. Aimee is a committed and dedicated volunteer leader in Huddersfield for the organisation vInspired, which offers community and social leading campaigns across the UK led by young people to help inspire and empower them. The programmes also help to improve personal development, skills building and action within the community. Aimee has worked on three community projects within Huddersfield over the past nine months; “Youth Homelessness”. “Make Time For Your Mind” and “Transforming Unloved/Unused Spaces” which transformed unloved and unused community spaces into areas people could use and enjoy regularly.

Aimee said:

“Being a Team v leader and volunteering within the local community allowed me to develop a range of different skills.

I have enjoyed working with a group of young, enthusiastic volunteers to make a difference in the community and I have enjoyed facing and overcoming the many challenges that arose as a leader.

I have developed friendships, met with organisations and worked with many of them, which has helped to develop my communication skills. Working with my volunteers has helped develop my confidence and leadership style and I feel the programme has helped me to understand the current problems faced in today’s societies and how I want to progress throughout my career.”

Aimee is continuing her good work and is due to fly out to Ghana soon to work as a volunteer on different development projects with Thrive Africa.
