Jacob Hill, 2nd year Enterprise Development student, is making his mark all the way from Brighouse to Brussels.
Peter Harrington, a specialist in innovative business simulation technology and creator of SimVenture, first met Jacob Hill at the John Smiths Stadium in Huddersfield.
“Having seen Jacob give a heartfelt presentation, he was the obvious person to put forward to the European Training Foundation (ETF) as a speaker in Brussels. Jacob is a rare individual; even though he is only 20 years old he has accumulated years of valuable business experience and has a highly engaging presentation style.”
Mr Harrington nominated Jacob as an ideal addition to launch the conference during Global Entrepreneurship Week. Tony Gribben, a manager of the ETF, was delighted to have Jacob on board sharing his story.
“(Jacob’s) enterprise story captured the hearts and minds of the conference participants when he keynoted at the gala dinner… I want to connect up with other Jacob Hills across Europe to make things happen.”
Jacob is now leading an initiative to offer young entrepreneurs all over the world the opportunity to connect and share contacts, experiences and gain access to more support and funding. Attendees at the conference included major European countries as well as others such as; Libya, Lebanon, Palestine, Croatia, Jordan and Kosovo who are all supportive of this idea. There have even been talks of Jacob becoming the first European Union ambassador for young enterprise. Jacob is now building a team and plan to take this idea forward at next year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week.
“Being a key note speaker at the European Union in Brussels was absolutely terrifying, but as I got talking, all my nerves left. This was the first time I have had to talk and wait for translators to catch up, but I am really proud I got to represent young entrepreneurs all over the world at one of Global Entrepreneurship Week’s most prestigious events… I have been flooded with guest speaking offers all over Europe, North Africa and Western Asia – I’d be silly not to take them!”
Jacob is best known for his success with The Lazy Camper, a complete outdoors kit with everything needed in one bag, perfect for festivals. In this short year, Jacob has grown this bedroom enterprise to feature on BBC3’s be your own boss, pitched to Sir Richard Branson, supplied V festival and he is now working closely with festival providers who own over 33% of the market to make The Lazy Camper ‘the most popular camping brand yet’.
“Next year is looking bright for The Lazy Camper, working with 12 major festivals to offer customers the option to collect the Lazy Camper when they arrive instead of carrying from home is one of our newest models which I am happy to offer fans of the brand… I just can’t wait to get started!”
